What We Believe

About the Bible:

We believe that the Bible is the divinely inspired Word of God and therefore it is the truth by which we, as Christians, are to live our lives. II Timothy 3:16 states, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness.”

About God:

We believe that there is one God who is eternally existent in three Persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We believe that man was created in the image of God, and through disobedience fell from his sinless state at the suggestion of Satan.  (Matthew 3:16-17; Genesis 1:26-27; 3:1-7)

About Jesus:

We believe that the one and only Son of God became incarnate through the virgin birth. He was fully divine and fully human. He lived a sinless life on earth. He died as the perfect and final sacrifice as the sinner’s substitute, shedding His blood for the forgiveness of sins. On the third day, He rose from the dead and ascended to the right hand of the Father, and is ever interceding on the behalf of His children. He shall come again to complete His saving work. The dead shall be raised, and the righteous will enter into the presence of God, and the wicked will be condemned to eternal death.  (John 1:14; Luke 1:26-35; Matthew 16:15-16; Romans 6:23, 8:3, 32-34; Galatians 4:4; I Timothy 6:14-16)

About the Holy Spirit:

We believe that the Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God. The Holy Spirit bears witness to the new birth, and to the sanctification of believers. The Holy Spirit dwells in the life of every Christian, and enables and empowers each one to live a godly and holy life. (Acts 1:8; Ephesians 3:14-21)

About Salvation:

We believe that salvation is by grace alone. We cannot be saved without freely responding to God. Man cannot save himself but in order to be saved he must believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe that God takes the initiative in our salvation. He provides Christ as the perfect sin offering and calls us to himself by the Spirit and we must respond in penitent, obedient trust in order to be saved. Yet, even this faith which saves is by the gracious ability that the Spirit gives. (John 14:6; Romans 5:1; Galatians 3:26; Ephesians 2:8-9)
